Manufacturers are fast-forwarding into the future with lots of new and exciting electric car models arriving in the UK in 2022. Following the government’s pledge to replace fuelled vehicles with EV’s, plug-in vehicles have become a popular alternative in the evolution of automobiles.
Over the next year you’re likely to see a growing list of innovative models from some of your favourite manufacturers. Here at EVwired we will be stocking EV charging wires for all of these vehicles upon release.

Audi Q6 e-tron
Co-developed with Porsche, and set to begin production in 2022, the Audi Q6 e-tron will be Audi’s first fully electric SUV. Stylish, futuristic, and much more spacious than the Q4 e-tron, the Q6 provides everything you’d expect from an Audi vehicle.
The Q6 e-tron is expected to provide a range of up to 300 miles, making it ideal for longer journeys, as well as short trips. The e-tron’s twin electric motors provide the kind of power you would expect, and with an acceleration speed up to 62mph in 5.7 seconds, and 500bhp, this is certainly a high-performance model to watch out for.

BMW iX1
Set to replace BMW’s X1 and confirmed to begin manufacturing in 2022, the BMW iX1 is an entry-level, zero-emission, electric-powered SUV. The iX1 features a more spacious bolder design, as well as a lower price, and a smaller battery compared to the iX3. Forecasts estimate that the iX1 will become one of BMW’s bestselling EV’s.
Two versions of BMW’s iX1 will be made available. The e-Drive20 will feature under 200hp, and a single motor. Whereas, the e-Drive30 will contain a twin motor, offering around 250hp. The iX1 will also come with a variety of batteries, with a 38kWh battery providing around 125 miles, targeted towards shorter journeys. View our range of existing BMW charging cables.
BMW i4
Considered to be a rival to Elon Musk’s Tesla Model 3, arriving late in 2021, the BMW i4 is a modern, spacious EV.
The i4 is BMW’s first fully electric Gran Coupé, and comes equipped with 5th generation eDrive technology. Two versions will be made available, the i4 M50 which features up to 544hp from twin electric motors, and the i4 eDrive which offers a range up to 365 miles on a single charge.
Citroen Ami
The Citreon Ami will shortly be making its way to the UK. This ultra-compact EV is now available to pre-order, and will be available from Spring 2022.
With a short range of only 46 miles, and a maximum speed of 28mph, this modest electric vehicle makes it the ideal local run around. Despite its limitations, Citreon Ami’s 5.5kWh battery only takes 3 hours to charge. This model has been a popular choice overseas – with around 12,000 drivers interested before it was launched.
Cupra Born
The new Cupra Born is due to be released in 2022, and will be the first all-electric Cupra available. This dynamic, sustainable, stylish model from SEAT offers a sportier look, and impressive interior design, based on the mechanics of Volkswagen’s ID3.
The Cupra Born’s long-range battery provides up to 231hp, and a maximum range of around 335 miles from a single charge. Various battery options will also be available providing shorter ranges too.
Mercedes EQE
Mercedes EQE is a simpler almost identical version of the EQS, featuring a 90kWh battery and similar interior to the EQS. The EQE will hopefully be released in the coming year.
A number of versions will be made available, with twin motors, ultra-rapid charging up to 170kWh, and ranges of over 400 miles on a single charge.
Nissan Ariya
The Nissan Ariya – rival to Volkswagen’s ID4, is a spacious SUV with a stylish minimalist interior, with the choice of either a two- or four-wheel drive, and is set to be released in 2022.
The Ariya comes complete with a choice of battery sizes, including a range of 211 miles with a 63kWh battery, or a 310-mile range with an 87kWh battery, with an expected 80% charge in less than an hour using a public supercharger.
Porsche Macan EV
Porsche have designed a fully electric version of their Macan model, which is similar in size to their original fuelled model, however the design underneath will be different.
The Macan EV is expected to come with a remarkable range of up to 400 miles, as well as being enabled for rapid charging.
The Porsche Macan EV is currently within the final development stages and is expected to arrive here in the UK later on in 2022.
Subaru Solterra
The Solterra will be Subaru’s first fully electric car, and will contain similar technology in its build to the Toyota bZ4X.
Available in a choice of front or four-wheel-drive, the Solterra comes equipped with a 71.4kWh battery, providing a range of up to 330 miles per charge. Subaru’s Solterra is expected to be released around the summer of 2022.
Tesla Model S
Tesla have an exciting variety of new EV’s lined up for release. Their new luxury Model S is expected to feature bigger and better interior technology than ever before, as well as an acceleration speed of 0-60 in less than 2 seconds.
The Plaid version of Tesla’s Model S has been revealed to have an incredible speed of 0-62 in under 2 seconds, and includes a range of up to 390 miles on a single charge. Tesla’s Model S is expected to go on sale towards the end of 2022 in the UK.
Tesla Model X
The Tesla Model X will feature a large interior, with the same technology as the Model S, with a 100kWh battery, and a range of up to 348 miles on a single charge. A Plaid version will also be available in the Model X too.
Tesla Model Y
Tesla’s Model Y is predicted to reach the UK early in 2022. The Model Y will be made available in two versions – Long Range and Performance. Long Range will seat up to seven people, featuring a 75kWh battery, and provide an estimated range of up to 300 miles at full capacity. Meanwhile, the luxury Performance Model Y has an estimated range of around 280 miles.
Toyota bZ4X
The bZ4X model will be the first in a new range of electric vehicles from Toyota, estimated to be around the same size as Toyota’s RAV4 SUV.
The bZ4X will offer a comfortable, spacious, luxurious EV, equipped with all of the latest technology. It includes a 71kWh battery, ranging over 280 miles, and is enabled for rapid charging within half an hour. Toyota’s bZ4X is expected to be made available in the summer of 2022.
Volkswagen ID5
Volkswagen’s ID5 SUV is expected to launch in the UK at the beginning of 2022. The ID5 will be similar in design to the ID4, in terms of the interior and the underside of the vehicle.
The ID5 will come in three versions – two featuring single motors and a GTX model with dual motors, each containing a 77kWh battery. The ID5 is estimated to range around 320 miles from a single charge.
Volvo C40 Recharge
Volvo’s C40 Recharge should be seen on UK roads towards the beginning of 2022, and is currently available to buy via the website.
The C40 Recharge will have a battery capacity of 78kWh, and is estimated to provide a range of around 275 miles on a full charge. With less body-work than the XC40, the C40 Recharge also features a 100% leather-free interior, and comes with built in Google integration.
